Serving Both Near & Far

Missions & Outreach

Missions and outreach at Salem Church exist to cultivate active surrender through creating opportunities where the Holy Spirit can move as people engage with their time, talent, and treasure.

Mission & Outreach Opportunities

Life change begins when the body of believers are mobilized beyond the walls of the church building, delivering the good news of Jesus to the lost in this world. Jesus’ Great Commission included delivering the Gospel to the ends of the earth, and as a church, we believe that we are called to love God’s children around the globe! When you travel beyond our borders with Salem Church of God, you can expect to partner with God in some tremendous work He is doing by working with international church plants, meeting food and shelter needs of poverty-stricken families, providing vital health care, praying with unchurched people groups, and much more

You do not need a passport to be on mission for Christ! Every day you encounter lost people where you live, work, and play. At Salem Church of God, our mission is to help people take their next step with Jesus in every season of life. We hope to accomplish this by sending our ninety-nine to reach the lost sheep in our relational reach zone and bring more of heaven to the 937 by helping meet the practical spiritual, educational, and nutritional needs of our neighbors.

Northmont F.I.S.H. – helping to alleviate the rising cost of food and clothing for low-income individuals and families in the Northmont School District. They do this through their food pantry, clothing closet, and mobile dental clinics.

Community Table – Bringing hope and wholeness to struggling families by providing kids with Christmas gifts, school supplies, and weekend food bags.

Local Schools – Salem Church of God is proud to come alongside the staff and students at our local schools to show them all the love of Christ and help families win at home and in the classroom.

Catalyst Resources International (CRI) – CRI is an organization that Salem Church of God partners with to assist a poverty-stricken community in Santa Maria De Jesus, Guatemala. They run an orphanage, build homes for the homeless, plant churches, sponsor VBS for children, and make regular grocery donations to vulnerable families.

Children of Promise (CofP) – CofP organizes programs that meet the spiritual, educational, financial, and nutritional needs of thousands of kids across the country through child sponsorships. Salem Church of God members are currently sponsoring more children through CofP than any of their other church partnerships except for one! This includes sponsoring the entirety of the Guatemalan program.

Caring Partners International (CPI) – CPI provides evangelism through medicine by visiting countries around the world, most commonly in Guatemala, and providing chiropractic, dental, vision, and general wellness clinics for those who are unable to afford that sort of care.

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend that you “Test Drive” a few ministry areas and see what you think! You can see a list of available options by checking out the test drive section on our website. This allows you to shadow a group of volunteers in a ministry area for a day and get a feel for what it’s like and what goes on. There’s no commitment, and unless you feel a very strong call to the ministry area you test drove, you are encouraged to try out several more before deciding where your giftings and passions can be best used.

Yes and no. God is the only one who can provide that sort of revelation, but we can do is invite you to an experience called “Hand Crafted Calling”. Hand Crafted Calling is designed to help people identify areas in which they are gifted and passionate with the end goal of being able to identify your God given calling! This is a 6-week experience where we look at the story of David from his time as a shepherd boy all the way into his reign as king. David knew who he was and what his strengths were, and through faith and connection to his Heavenly Father, he boldly stepped into his calling and lived it out! We believe that through this model, anyone can figure out what their own Hand Crafted Calling is.
